Handmade in Nepal

Nepal is a sacred land interwoven with diverse religions, beliefs, and culture. It stands as a beacon of creativity, harnessing the bounties of nature. Their resourceful traditions passed from generations are still common and help sustain the natural environment. Some age old practices continued today utilizes natural materials such as corn peels, jute, hemp, bamboo, and daphne.
Allow us to present our inaugural creation, the Lokta notebook – a testament to our commitment to sustainable innovation.
What is "Lokta"? & Why to love it!
Tsukiko notebooks are created from a beloved plant called "Lokta". Lokta is a species of a flowering plant called Daphne. A bush that grows above the Himalayas in a sterile and fresh environment. Each sheet of paper is individually prepared by Nepalese artists who have perfected their skills for generations. Lokta have been used as a medium to record official governmental documents of Nepal for centuries. Recorded text estimates its creation to be dated back to the 12th century. Some believe it to have been used for over 1900 years to record religious transcripts.
Lokta is a tree-free, sustainable, vegan, and anti-acid paper. These papers do not contact any harsh chemicals in the making and are 100% naturally made. They are handpicked, handcrafted with local water, and dried under the sun. Moreover, these papers are resistant to insects, allergens, excellent for humid conditions, and tear due to long natural fibers.
